The adventure of life is to learn. The purpose of life is to grow. The nature of life is to change. The challenge of life is to overcome. The essence of life is to care. The opportunity of life is to serve. The secret of life is to dare. The spice of life is to befriend. The beauty of life is to give. The joy of life is to love. William Arthur Ward
It has been quite a journey to get here and I know that it is just the beginning. Bettsy Kingston is my alter ego my real name is Benita. BK is my silent partner, my imaginary BFF, she is the daring one.
I live in Queensland Australia, Brisvegas to be exact. Home life is a little chaotic with three children and a chicken – chicky icky. I don’t sew enough – how can I tell? I have developed an imaginary sewing art form – you’d be amazed at the beauty of my imaginary quilts and imaginary clothes. Even the little missed stitches and unmatched seams. I do love making patterns as painfully slow as it can be, fabric (a little too much), chocolate (not enough), sleeping in, brunch with friends, a good book, sci fi movies and these days, things that begin with ‘i’ – ipad, iphone, imac, ichocolate (ok that doesn’t exist).
I’m not one for grand gestures, I will never have 1,000 (+ counting) facebook friends or a book deal on the side. I’m that person who never keeps in contact with friends, forgets birthdays, is always late and never seems to follow a diet (and not in an awe inspiring kind of way). I guess that is me. I do believe that individuals can create change. I will never remember how you take your coffee but I will be the person who remembers how unique and wondrous you are (and that you share an obsession for good chocolate and arty films).
I love the idea of things – the dreams. I love dreaming about travel, things I need to do, places to see, married life with alexander skarsgard (how did that get in here?). You get the idea. BK is my own private world, that I share with you. BK doesn’t need to clean the house, push for homework to be completed and arrive to work on time.
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do… Anonymous
